Temperature

If you want to teach your students about temperature and climate then check out these resources:

Try this application from the BBC, it allows children to find out what it would be like living in different climates and is a great introduction to climate.

For a more scientific approach, looking at how and why these climates exist take this link to the NASA Worldbook. It's a bit wordy but includes all the relevant information.

The World Meteorological Organisation allows you to check the weather forecast for almost anywhere on the Earth.

The Water Cycle

The water cycle can be a difficult topic to "jazz up" and make interesting for your students.

The Kidzone site has an attractive website that explains the water cycle using pictures and diagrams. It also has some excellent posters that can be printed out and used in a display. This site is suitable for Year 5 & 6 although younger children might enjoy colouring in the posters.

You could try teaching younger children "The Water Cycle Boogie"

"Evaporation, Condensation
Precipitation, Saturation
And the water cycle boogie goes 'round and round
And the water cycle boogie goes up and down."

As well as the wonderful song there are also some great activity ideas to explore evaporation and other parts of the water cycle. Read about them here.

Precpitation

Precipitation includes rain, snow, hail and sleet.
The BBC have a short animation that shows all four of these in action. See it here.
